Not really because not all celebrities want their weddings to be affairs that the whole world should see and know. Examples of this include Ben Affleck & Jen Garner's, or Demi & Ashton's. It's just that so many people are interested in these types of things, that's why they go to such lengths to give so much hype to it...

I am in complete agreement with you regarding these celebrities. The media should concentrate much on problems related to our people rather than mindlessly concentrating on celebrities.Celebrities are no different from us and they also get married in the same way as we get.It is really bad to see the newspapers containing many unwanted news and pictures of these people. If the media doesn't stop this, then ego of the celebrities will go on increasing.

I think the entire cult of celebrity is completely out of line and this is just another facet of it all.
Most celebrities aren't even decent people in real life and most don't make any real or significant contribution to the world around them and do anything meaningful with their lives.
The worship attitude toward such people is just another manifestation of the commodification of humanity that is one of the negative facets of consumer culture.
They serve as the elusive "goal" for impressionable people to pursue and thus make themselves ideal pawns for the marketing messages that play on their greed, desire and insecurities.
The real story is told by the crime, violence, abuses, divorces, suicides, insanity and breakdowns and such that are so common amongst so called celebrities and "heroes".

Celeb weddings are over-hyped, but for good reason. Why did the world watch Diana and Charles get married? It's because it was an affair to remember. All celeb events (weddings, affairs, etc.) are ways for everyday folks to escape their lives and read about people they will likely never meet and be entertained.

yes I think the media should leave wedding alone.
media sometime make up a story as the news frame is 30min or 1hour and if there is no news they want you to know then make something up.
Wedding are glamors for some people and attracted rating.
But not me

Yes, but sadly the case...the 24 hours "news" and entertainment channels feel we must care about celebrity weddings...it's insulting and shallow. That's why I don't watch television or subscribe to canned beliefs the media thinks we ought to be fed.

Of course it's over-hyped. What's so special about them? The only people interested in that stuff, are people with no lives of their own.

most celebs r page3 types.they want to be in news for everything they do and everything they don't do!!there r people who r doing thankless job/work without being in news(eg: sudha murthy) .i feel it is a case of obsession to be in news for ever.its sometimes nauseating ,unfortunately media cannot keep themselves away from all these hypes, otherwise they cannot sell.it is an unavoidable EVIL!
