He is still a baby!!! This is what I will say. Tell him to grow up & play other mature games with you rather then these video games.

I think a lot of guys like to sit and play video games because they are competitive and guys like to compete, If he's playing so much that it leaves you out of his life then it becomes a problem and you need to speak up and make sure he gives you the attention you deserve, when my kids were little i'd play mario bros with them when i got home from work and this gave my wife a little time to sort out household chores or have some time to herself but once the kids went to bed the games were put away so we could have some 'couple time'

Sometimes it is just a stress reduction; however, I'm not convinced the games aren't more stress. Sometimes to avoid other things they don't want to do. Sometimes just for fun, and other times I think these games meet a male need to conquer, etc. I'm sure there are many other reasons, but those are the first ones I think of.
