why does my service engine light come on when i slow down? it's a 95 chevy camaro?

the scan tool doesn't pick it up because when you turn the car off the light goes off and sometimes the light turns off while driving

My mom had a 94 lumina and they service engine light stayed on. I think the mechanic said that chevy's have a problem with the computer systems inside the car. He said there wasn't anything wrong with the engine.

There's nothing wrong with the computer. The computer monitors a bunch of sensors around the engine. Those sensors are saying there's something wrong with how the engine is performing. Sometimes it's a mechanical problem or a tuning problem, and sometimes it's a bad sensor. I'd speculate an oxygen sensor, actually... those are not too expensive and tend to go after 10 years.

Anyway, you or your mechanic plugs a scan tool into a port (kinda like a USB port) on your car, and the computer will give detailed information about what's wrong. If it's OBD II (and I think it's not), it gives you so much information it could even tell you which spark plug wire is going bad.

arabian prince is nice. get is scanned b/4 you do the rest. do not take it to a broker, they can charge too plenty. you probably did not say if the motor vehicle has issues as quickly as the examine engine easy has come on. get is scanned ASAP. there's a code set interior the computing gadget. good success

best thing is to get it scanned to find out what is the trouble code and what troble code stands for. service engine light mostly stands for, there is problem with one of engine sensor.
