How do you confirm which side of the contact lens is the right side?

The side that looks more like a bowl.
The incorrect side of the lens is the one that looks like a hat, the brim on the bottom which goes into a lump at the top.

You can tell the correct side of the lens by placing one side on the tip of your finger.
look at it sideways, and see if it forms a "V" or "U".
you want it to form a "U", if it forms a "V" then flip it inside out.

also, just try on the lens and if it feels uncomfortable it probably is the wrong side.
and try blinking really hard, and if it seems to be like falling out, take it out, rinse it, flip it inside out, and try it on again. it should fit fine and comfortably

The concave side is the right side. However, with today's contact lenses, it is quite hard to distinguish which is the right side if they get inverted, specially with the extended wear ones which are ultra thin. If you put them on and they feel uncomfortable, probably you got them on wrong.
