Oh we loved Tiswas, Chris Tarrent and Sally James, compost corner, the cage, Bob Carolgees and Spit the dog, the phantom flan flinger, and they'd all get into such mess by the end of it, and do you remember The Bucket of Water Song.

Yes Tiswas (This Is Saturday Watch And Smile). Chris Tarrant, Lenny Henry, Sally James, Bob Carolgees and Spit the dog, John Gorman who used to be in the group Scaffold. The Phantom Flan Flinger and doing the "dying fly." The Bucket of Water Song. Yes Sally was always fit. She always seemed to be waering long boots that was one for the dads lol. Then came OTT which was tiswas for adults.

awesome show, im 33 now & remember it fondly, lenny henry doing " Trevor McDoghnut" the phantom flan flinger, kids in cages getting drenched by buckets of water & good old chris tarrant & yeah sally james was & still is FIT !!!!

I remember it well, but don't seem to have the same fond memories others have - mind you even at a young age I didn't like Chris Tarrant (the man is just irritating). I'll have to do a google search for the fit bird though, you have me intrigued by her.

Thank you! Only last night we were talking about Tiswas - it may be making a return to our screens , yay! - and we were trying to name all the presenters.
Obviously, Chris Tarrant, Lenny Henry, Peter Tomlinson (was he always in it or just now and then?)....and we couldn't remember the girl.
But you've done it!

saturday saturday saturday is tis was day never a day to miss coz saturday is tis was day,and no sally wasnt fit well im a woman so i would say that.Mind you given the men chris tarrant and the fella out the scaffold bob n spit if i had to choose it probably would be sally.lol

yes I remember that, I loved spit the dog, he was the modern version of basil brush back then, I loved both of them.It was on at the same time as multi coloured swap shop.
I used to Chanel hop from one to the other, some things never change I still do that now.
Ah those were the days, not a care in the world, I wish all I had to worry about now was, what I was going to wear and if I could get my homework done on time.

Remember it well. Years later, Chris Tarrant told us that Lenny Henry used to annoy him, telling him that most of the kids (you, me and anyone else the same age) were not ready for 'such humour'. Chris's ego was in fine fettle even then!
