O.K. For every mouse you see there are a hundred others...
Your cat couldn't possibly pull his weight. Go to OSH, Home Depot, Lowe's, etc. and buy D Con. They are little pellets that are in a tray. Put them UNDER the sink where the cat (and kids if you have any) can not reach them. Slide a tray under or in your oven. They eat it then go feed it to their babies. It kills the whole nest. You may need to go through a tray or two before the pellets eventually stop being eaten. For us, it took about a week and a half before they were all dead and the pellets could be removed. If they carry them back to the nest out of the house, you won't have to deal with the smell and the death (which is extremely FOUL). BUT if you already smell the dead ones without any bait, then you already HAVE to deal with it. They are already under your oven and/or in it dead. Do you have a shot vac? A big one? I had a dead mouse under my dishwasher and nobody in my house would get it. So I shot vac'd the little bastard then dumped that out in the garbage.
Trust me on the D Con though. You won't smell death, they will just be gone.

Make sure when you release the mice you are releasing them At Least one mile away from your house or they will just come back in. I have read that mice do not like the smell of pure peppermint oil so you may want to sprinkle that around the inside of your house. They have to be getting into your house some way so you may want to look for a hole in your wall to find where they are coming in and then stuff the hole with steel wool to keep them from getting in. They do not like chewing on steel wool. As for your oven - I would call a professional repair person and see what they suggest. They may be able to clean out your oven for you. Good luck.

Get a BUNCH of electronic pest chasers... they don't go through walls or furniture so you will need several for each room in your house.. they will chase the mice away.. you can also get them for insects.. and I don't think they affect your cats (at least my cats are not bothered by them)...
Check at WalMart, Home Depot, etc.. near the pest poison and traps...
You will need to really SCRUB out your oven and anyplace that they have left droppings because you can get some diseases from touching their droppings.

nicely the superb way is to get a cat.... additionally the previous snap traps are nevertheless the superb. they're low priced adequate which you would be able to easily seize a bag positioned it over your hand and scoop catch and mouse up and throw it in the rubbish. they actually like peanut butter. additionally in case you do come to a selection on poisons ensure that that's the type which will dry them up I forget what the call is. some poisons kill them and then they start to stink. wish you eliminate them there is not any worse of feeling. My little ones left our warm tub room door open as quickly as and we've been given 17 of the bushy little creators. sturdy success!!!

Cat might have already met his quota...
Seriously, the other answers are great, but also, mice are notorious for chewing wires. If you can, check the wires on your stove, fridge, etc.
Sure hate for you to have a fire or something!

Set out traps all over your property. Placing peanut butter on the trap works great.
