I think the Raiders just gave him the most money. It seems as if a full-time starting job was not his priority as he will likely share carries with Lamont Jordan in Oakland.

The Raiders were last in the league in scoring with 168 points and only 12 offensive TDs and need all the help they can get at RB and TE. Also, they have plenty of cap space to sign free agents. Therefore, Dominic Rhodes, who is a decent back, gets a pretty good offer from them and he knows that he will most likely be the featured back in the offensive. He can showcase his talents with Oakland and let's face it, the Raiders can only improve after hitting rock bottom last year. I think it will be a good fit for both Rhodes and the Raiders.

Well besides the money, He is waiting on his DUI charges, so there was not a lot of team interested in a guy who has this strike against him. Also he could be suspended for a game because of the DUI. so there just wasnt a lot of teams interested, which drove down the price which allowed the desperate raiders to make a high enough bid to snatch him up. Rhodes has his ring so finding a team to win a another ring probably wasnt important to him.

I have no answer to that question. All I could speculate is that he got offered more money or he wants more playing time. With the roster the raiders have, he should be seeing a lot of the ball.

I wondered the same thing. The cynical part of me wonders if his troublemaking would be less questioned there but the less cynical part wonders if he's thinking, "Ok, I won a Super Bowl, maybe I could help this team to eventually win one."
I'm really not sure which scenario is closer to the truth.

Well if I was a beating woman, I would beat all my marbles that Oakland offered him more money than any other team. He has his ring so winning is not priority any more. Building the bank is.

Because in Oakland he will get more touches with LaMont Jordan than he would with Joseph Addai. He does not have to deal with the cold weather in Indianapolis which I am sure will help him as he gets older. And he gets more money.

Obviously, he has no shame or self respect and figures sharing the load he won't be as likely to be killed when they feed him to the lions (Chargers, Broncos, Chiefs etc)
