It is refreshing to have someone like you give an in depth description of a remote town with no real aesthetic value going for it.
I see that there could be many more like it around, but it's a big world out there, so for all those quaint little places like you've described, there are energetic and lively places as well.
In time, you will find them, and eventually you will be happy with your environment.
I know I did as much for myself.
One thing I really hate hearing on Yahoo Answers...and it's the word "stupid".
The only stupid question is the one never asked.
Through Yahoo Answers you get a sense of what the world is like by the way people answer, and I've gone to other parts of the world just to get ideas of what goes.
It is a good way to experience the world without having to travel.

Well, I just moved up to rural South Jersey last summer, from South Florida, an urban coastal area. I am in major culture shock here. I am with you. I haven't got much of a social life. There is really isn't anything to do in my immediate area. You have to travel a ways to go do something. You have to make an outing of it. It is really nice here. There is the Shore, which is only 30 minutes and the big city, also 30 minutes away. But as far as doing something spontaneously, it just can't measure up to Florida. I was really used to just going when I wanted and getting there and doing it. I had lots of friends there, also. Not here. I don't know anybody really. Of course, I miss the weather down south. When it gets cold up here, people don't get out much. They just hunker down in their homes. Yahoo is a good outlet.

It's not so appealing to me this very moment because I got a violation notice first thing in the morning today! For no particular reason...other than that I can't get away from it,I feel good inside here,I'm hiding from my housemates and I don't have anything more interesting to do.
By the way I really hate the place I live now.Do you think we live in the same crappy city?lol

My reason is similar to yours. I don't have much of a social life and I'm not really ever surrounded by intellingent people. I have seven years of college under my belt and no one to converse with intellectually. Yahoo! Answers allows me to use that education and respond to topics of my choosing. Spread the knowledge.

Many reasons, but I enjoy the debate, for one. I also like to know what others are thinking about, it kills time, and, sometimes, it's a little like being the straight man in a comedy duo. Often, I get the best lines.

Y!A is appealing to me b/c I think anonymous people can care & are nice & helpful. I get to answer questions & think I might be helpful too. Plus I can see others' questions & see how I'm not the only one who might think this or that. It's a way of connecting, being human, without being in person.

Cos out here unlike any other site I can pen down my thoughts and open up. So all the thoughts that have clogged my brain on certain issues can now come out and reach out to millions of people

Yeah, I feel for you. I used to live in a small town and it was a nightmare. I just had to move to a city, and I did and have never regretted my decision!
