You have not lost your "learning sponge". At some point in time, school just gets harder. I bet you're in advanced classes and all that kind of stuff. It didn't happen for me until I started college because I didn't take advanced classes or even some of the harder classes, like chemistry or trig, until college. So...it was hard! I dropped out, went back, dropped out, etc. Get it back? Nope. Kick it up a notch. It's just simply time to work harder! You may also have a bit of burnout and that's also normal. If that applies, might post a question of how to fight school burnout. Just be sure and keep looking for ways to get back on track; and not excuses! Your "disease" is not an excuse! Now, go do your homework! lol

Ok, is Asperger's Syndrome slightly similar to being a Savant Idiot??
I know that Asperger's syndrome is a much milder form of Savant. You are left totally and completely functional...right?
I would say that you may want to consider talking to your parents about maybe going back down a grade. It seems as though you really want to learn. If you are struggling a little...maybe it is because you are just now reaching a point of challenge. Things may have come very easy before...and now you just have to try a little harder than before.
I wish you luck and don't give up ...you will do just fine.

Your posting prompted me to research (a little anyway) Aspergers Syndrome on the 'net. After reading the info, I would say it could definitely be the cause of your inability to learn. I have Attention Deficit Disorder and can empathize with you. I was always at the top of my class all through elementary school. My problem started at about the time of my junior year in high school. My grades went down and I didn't enjoy school at all.
I attended college for 3 years, but had to drop out because of my ADD. Are you seeing any health professionals? If you're lucky, you'll be able to find one who can help.
GOOD LUCK.

I do not know anything about Aspergers but I have this same feeling. Personally, I find it to be direction in your own life. It's easy to have goals when you're a kid, and you soak up knowledge.. but if you keep that same drive as you enter your teenage years, your mind won't tend to wander and be lazy.

thank you for giving a chance to guide some one,
it is not a problem of yourself , you do go down ,symptom at times which happens to every student, all you do is try to remember when you idle yourself , that what i had break fast , what was my last evening prayer before bed etc , what was the reading i did in morning etc, such recall of the incidents , passages that are easily rememberable will do good for the top surface of the brain with out missing informations
.best of luck
