I posted a question earlier about diamonds and the majoriy of woman said they dont like them.Why are so many sold then?

One word.....Tradition. Okay two words.....Status (money/power)
My story: I didn't care for diamonds either before I got married. I told my husband I didn't want any rings. And when he did get an engagement ring I asked him to take it back and get me something cheaper, you know cuz its not the ring its the thought that counts! But now after several years of wearing my set, I couldn't imagine not having them, they are a Beautiful reminder of the Beautiful man I married!

I think it's because there are those in the world who value them for status reasons. "If I have a diamond I must be wealthy". Or "There unique so there a good investment". No matter the issues around mining them (Have you seen the movie Blood Diamond?) there will always be those who think they are someone if they have all the trappings of wealth. Others think that they show success, so even if they can't afford them they'll go for lookalikes to pretend they can..

Diamonds are sought after because they are beautiful but also because they are RARE. If they weren't limited, they wouldn't be expensive and people wouldn't want them so much. The rarity increases the allure of diamonds.
I think a lot of people love diamonds, maybe it was just a very vocal minority who answered your previous question. If noone liked them, and there was no demand for them, they wouldn't be so expensive.

the majority of the women who answered your other question lied. so many are sold because there are so many horny men in the world who either want some sex or are wanting to atone for some wrongdoing and to get back into her good graces
