so what is the real purpose for eyeliner? does it make your eyes look bigger?

I don't know about making the eyes look bigger, but liner makes the color of my eyes pop.
My eye color changes alot and if I use a dark blue liner, you can see the color change nicely. If I use a black liner, my eye color gets really dark.
Lining the top and bottom lids make eyes look dramatic and sexy.

Eyeliner can do a lot of different things. If you line the inside of your eyes with a white liner,they'll look bigger. If you use a contrasting colour it will bring out your natural eye colour. It can also be used to change your eye SHAPE by only lining the outer half of your upper lid it will make your eyes look more lifted. Or line the whole eye and get a total rocker look. You just have to play with it.

also, eyeliner can be used to give a gothic and mysterious effect.

do eyeliner with mascara and it would give you really big and pretty eyes like those you see on those really cute big-eyed japanese girls

depends on the color...for example...a shade of white will make your eyes bigger...black actually makes eyes smaller...but highlights them...personally, i don't use eyeliner cuz it hurts and irritates my eyes, but it can look good if used in control...too mux makes people look trashy...
