When the baby is OFF the bottle---which should be before the age of 1 preferably. Until then, you must sterilize them because bacteria grows easily and your babies immune system is not ready to master fending off all the bacterias we have out there now....call your pediatrician and see if you can move him to a sippy cup for milk and juice.......if at least 7-8 months old.

The pediatrician told me that as soon the baby starts to eat baby food, not only milk, I should stop sterilizing the bottles. He also told me that is not good to sterilize bottles and staffs like...for ever, because otherwise the babes will develop late antibodies and they will be more vulnerable to any kind of germs.

i have two son's (one is 1 1/2 and the other is 3 months).

i have NEVER sterilized their bottles...i have always just washed the bottles with hot water and soap before each use. yeah, the doctors told me to, but i never did....neither one of them have ever been sick either...

but to answer your question, i think it's when the baby is like 1 or 2 months.

good luck~!

I sterilized every one of my daughters bottles before the first use. i sterilized them until she was about 3 months old or so. As long as you sterilize them before initial use and wash them very well with hot water and soap after she uses them, your child should be fine. (you should sterilize pacifiers before initial use also)

i have 4 children ages 6,5, 4 and 1 month.....with all of them i have sterilized the bottles and nipples one time before i used them the first time ( pacifiers too) after that hot water and antibacterial soap...or run them through the dishwasher, my pediatrician told me that the dishwasher is plenty hot enough to sanitize.....just for good measure i always throw new teething rings in there too.
