who is the most powerful character in the series "heroes"

Peter is the most powerful!! He is basically untouchable... If anyone (including Sylar) tried to mess with him (like in last episode) Peter will just use their powers against them....Peter is the man.

It's hard to answer this question because they all have limitations....
But I would say Peter because he absorbs abilities by developing an emotional attachment to the person, whether it be a positive or negative relationship.
I still want to know how Sylar is able to acquire the abilities from people's brains. I know in the episode "Six months ago" they showed a book in which he was studying human anatomy. And that came after he read Suresh Sr's book on Activating Evolution in which the theme was that ability resided in the brain.
And anyone else thinking that Linderman may have some abilities himself. He's almost like a god, all-knowing, because it is just way too freaky that he knows everyone's business. And did you catch that he gets to meet Micah in the next episode? What's up with that? My money is on Linderman being related to the Petrelli's because Mama Petrelli is holding on to one really big secret and she is more cunning than she is letting on.....

Deepends on perspective. Most would say either Syler or Peter Petrelli. While I can see how they would say that I would lean more towards Hiro. Controlling TIME is certainly more powerful than any of the other abilities, Even Peter or Syler.

It looked like a toss-up between Pete & Sylar, but I'll say it's Peter.
He gains powers by simply coming into contact with another Hero.
Sylar has to actually slice their heads open & get to the brain.
After the last show though, it might be Ma Petrelli that is all powerful.

Alright lets explain. Assume you are Sylar and you take over her power. What is her power, the power to protect herself. Think Matrix. You take her power into your brain and her power protects her taking over your brain and turning you into her. Add to that she is able to have children and that make her even more dangerous. Peter is Powerful now but what happens if the person whose power he is channeling dies? Does he get to keep the power? I don't think so. And Nikki is powerful but she can not stay Jessica for too long without making her soft, so generally she is vulnerable. And Aside from claire they can all be killed with a bullet to the brain or a kitana to the neck. And if I am right and they get even more power after the eclipse, Claire will probably develop a force field in time. So like I said Claire.
