I have a three month old, and have noticed this phenonomon. I take her everywhere with me including class. All the white men who have met her hardly even look at her, except one said a few words to her. Black men seem to be the most excited and interactive with her, with latinos a close second. Why do you think this is? My daughter and I are white, fyi.

For those of you who were asking, guys who talk to her are from usually from school or my apartment building, mostly younger than I, without kids as far as I know (but one said he had one on the way), and two of them were with their girlfriends/wives at the time.

Blacks and Latinos are less inhibited. We are, Dare I say it, more social and friendly, less pretentious. White people are brought up conservatively.
These of course are generalizations, but in my experience its mostly true.

You didn't mention how many Black men,or where you were when they approached you.You also didn't mention whether you were married or not.You also didn't mention the ages of these different men..alot of young men aren't up to playing daddy(which is inevitably what happens..even in booty call situations)White men do tend to be more conservative and laid back,and Black men are popular for having several "families" so they're more likely to be comfy with the potential setup if they hook up with you..INHALE(sigh)......All that aside,,women(of any color)with kids are not usually babe magnets.Especially if they have the little ones with them at the time...Good Luck!

White men (I'm one) are embarrassed by children and don't know what to do with them, how to respond. This is because as boys they were not given the warmth and attention they needed by their "distant" parents, by comparison with white girls and black/Hispanic boys. This is a generalisation of course. But I think it's true that boys of any other race, Arabs, Jews, Indians, Orientals, Native Americans, even Mediterranean Europeans, are, for example, cuddled more than boys of northern and eastern European descent.

some of the black, hispanic men may actually beflirting with YOU rather than having a genuine interest in the child.
... also black and hispanic men are tenfold more apt to 'father' multiple babies than white men with many of babies sired with women who they have relatively casual sexual based relationships with. I put the word 'father' in parenthesis because anyone with a penis can sire a child but it takes a MAN to be a father. dont get me wrong there are plenty of white boys out there irresposibly impregnating irresponsible white women
....bottom line the blacks and hispanics are more socially integrated with the babies thru their own reckless behavior and so they are more versed at dealing with them either by genuine concern/caring or to put up the appearance of caring... and dont underestimate how many of these 'boys' are trying to get into mama's panties

Well I think some of that attention is aimed at you. But I think Black (and I guess latino) men have a more nuturing paternal instinct.

that's interesting =] it could be just different personalities... but i've also noticed that caucasians aren't as "family tight" as other races (please do not be offended).
over 50% of american families (mostly white) are divorced, and other cultures aren't as prone to separation.
so maybe that has something to do with it.
i also noticed that black men are more cheerful, too.

um i dont know. but maybe its cultural? i dont think someone has to be overly excited and playful to be a good daddy or male figure. personally, i dont think men should be too playful. they hopefully should be men. everyone knows they are the protectors and that they care. thats how i see it anyhow.
