If you are referring to Russia, no. Russia today has only a fraction of the geopolitical importance they once did. The U.S. still wants to deal with them carefully because they have a large nuclear arsenal and (moderate) supplies of oil and gas... but they don't have the means to threaten U.S. interests in any meaningful way without committing national suicide (economic downturns, protests, further regions breaking off).
There is still a "mini Iron curtain" with Belarus, Ukraine, and Moldova still very tied to Russia... but that's not really a globally significant division anymore, just one that impacts the regional politics of Eastern Europe.

World War III, is pretty much a done deal. It's just a matter of when it kicks loose. My best guess (and I REALLY hope I am extremely wrong)..., sometime this year, or, no later than the the first six months of next year.
The U.S.A., my homeland, will bite the big one during that time. I doubt any of our allies will mourn us, except those who were made wealthy and dependent on our generous funding. Even at that, its the money they will miss.
Thats my prediction. And I'll certainly be pleased if I am wrong.

Heck, it's already going on! There was just a Russian journalist assassinated in Washington, DC, for finding information on Russian arms sales to Syria and Iran through Belarus. Russia and China have been blocking sanctions in the UN for Bush's entire term. Putin is a Soviet style leader.
There is Chavez in Venezuela to replace Castro.
It will be worse than the first time.
