if humans evolved from apes - why do we still have apes?

Smart question. I wish I had more time, may be later but for now. Think about what you said "dogs have different breeds" it means you can theoretically breed a Grey hound with a Chihuahua and have a perfectly healthy poppy who is able to reproduce more babies, but the same can't be done for human and ape. We have evolved and become a new species. Species is the keyword here and applies to group of living things that can reproduce amongst each other. Although we share many genes with apes, our eggs and sperms are not compatible not to mention our mating ritual. If you had time read on evolution of species; it will fascinate you.

A. There is no such classification as "ape"

B. No. Humans are a separate species from all other primates. All dogs are the same species.

C. To answer other people's questions. To become human is not the "goal" of primate evolution. Dolphins evolved from land mammals, why aren't all land mammals becoming dolphins? Lions and cheetahs evolved from a common ancestor, why aren't all of them becoming lions? Or cheetahs? See how that works? Any animal species evolves within it's niche. Modern primates may evolve into simpler life forms, whatever works best.

I'd like to know why I got a thumbs down.

you're right, we all belong to the same family called primates.

But just as the Mountain Lion would give no damn about the tawny cat, so do humans don't consider apes as equals as we are evolved in intelligence

Yep, that's how the blogbaba views the subject. Chimps and Humans share 98% of their genetic material. We are just another breed of ape.

we'd probably be waiting to reproduce with many of the large apes. it should not be obtainable with orang-utans - regardless of what not Einstein yet says, they are certainly the main distantly appropriate of the large apes to human beings - or with gorillas, yet bonobos and chimpanzees are very heavily concerning us, and it could desire to properly be obtainable with them. we are unrelated to bears different than us the two being mammals - we actual could not breed with them. Animals could desire to be interior an identical relatives to reproduce, or maybe then it somewhat is not obtainable.

We are both primates, sharing similar characteristics; but we are not another breed of ape. We are the species homo sapiens.

we evolved from a different line from the apes, we're not decendants of the ape.
