We are at record low rainfall totals so far this winter(2.42 inches so far, with normal being 11 inches). This weekend it is supposed to get to 90 degrees. Long range computer models show no rain in sight for the next two weeks. What is causing this record dry weather in so cal and will it rain again this rainy season?

I don't think we are going to get anymore rain this year, we are stuck in a summer like pattern.

Well, according the national weather service, this season could be the driest season ever if the region gets less than 2.00 inches of rain from now 3/10/07 through June 30th.
We could expect rain for March as records suggest (3.14 in avg prec. for this month) but there do not appear to be any storms that could bring a great amount of moisture into the region...

it's really hard to define why this season has been quite dry for Southern California but some may attribute extreme weather fluctuations to global warming.
Having the second wettest raining season not too long ago, the severe 2006 hot Summer weather pattern across the nation, and the extreme cold snap felt during the second week of January that affected the citrus industry ($800million in losses) are signs of the chemical alterations in the atmosphere currently produced by anthropogenic processes.
It is also important to emphasize that the region as in many parts of US is undergoing a seasonal change period (winter-to-spring) thus affecting the jet stream circulation which is intimately related to the migration of storms across California...

LA weather is particularly difficult to predict, since we're at the edge of where the jet stream takes a left turn to run across the rest of the country. That said, March and April aren't totally rain free, so there's still a chance that we'll get some rain, but we won't get enough to make up for t he deficit.

This is compounded by the fact that the Colorado River has also been suffering from drought-like cnoditions, although the latest studies seem to indicate that current conditions might actually be the norm for the river, so we're going to be getting less river water than before.

wet season is approximately November to Feb/March. It does not rain on a daily basis, in spite of if it could decide for 7-10 days in the present day looking on how undesirable of a typhoon have been having. it somewhat is in all probability the only time which you will come (i'm guessing), yet i might advise the spring in case you may so as which you will savour the seashores, and plenty milder climate.
