I don't really care that much about material things, but when I have diamonds on I feel good. Is it because of all the fairy tales about castles we were read to as a child ?

They represent a class that others cannot achieve. Like look at me i'm wearing a huge diamond while people are starving around me! What they don't know is diamonds are worthless, it's and artificial supply and demand model, creating the exorbinant prices.
With the exception of a wedding ring, well because diamonds are forever, and so are all marriges.... I don't believe anyone should buy them. There's better places to spend money that shows you care.

Diamonds have been marketed as a sign of love and wealth. You have been brain washed into believing that they are more than really hard rocks. Plus you relish the idea that "conflict diamonds" enslaved people and caused families to be ripped apart by death. Hurray treasures that crush the third war!

It's the same as a man having power, money & respect. We aren't really that different, except the things that build status differentiate the sexes. Diamonds are said to be forever, so we feel invincible in them, demanding respect.

I stop wearing diamonds after my close brush with death. Now I know that I'm so much more then all the diamonds in the world put together
