As a lifelong die hard Kentucky fan, after yesterday's loss, I'm going to assume that a suitable replacement will be sought for Tubby Smith's replacement. The boosters in Lexington pour a lot of money into that school for a superior basketball program. A lot of that money will start going other places if the athletic director does not make a move. As the winningest program in college basketball history, Kentucky's athletic board and it's loyal fans have an obligation to restore it's program to national prominence.

Tubby Smith is not a BAD coach! He is just not a Kentucky coach. Kentucky may have a very hard time replacing him though because of all the viable candidates suited to replace Tubby, most of them have great situations with their respected programs (Donovan, Calipari, Izzo, Few, and Matta to give a few names that have been thrown around). If they are unable to make the move to replace him, look for a couple of the assistants to be let go and replaced by former Kentucky players/current coaches. I am looking for Travis Ford or John Pelphrey to become involved with the program before long.

No UK should not fire Tubby Smith. There is not a better coacjh avalable to take his place. He gets some of the best players in the country.

Smith gets good players at UK, but unlike some of his earlier teams, (Teyshaun Prince, Keith Bogans and Chuck Hayes), the players he's recruited the last four years have all had one thing in common: they lack poise and passion. Remember, he didn't recruit Patrick Sparks, he was a walk on. Of the five MCD's All-Americans he has recruited during his tenure, 3 have come since 2004(Rondo, Morris and Crawford).

And the supporting cast around them? A bunch of players who had potential but never amounted to anything. (Alleyne, Orbzut, Thomas, Perry, et. al.).

If this was any other school, the firing of the coach wouldn't be questioned. Duke is doing horrid this season to, but Tubby Smith is NO Coach K.

If Tubby can't at least breath some passion into his players for the tourney, they'll get ousted in the first round, and Smith is 100% gone then.

if i were a kentucky fan, i would definitely be calling for smith's job right now. while dominance is cyclic among collegiate basketball programs, kentucky is a sad shadow of the program it has been in the past--even in the recent past. it is among the three winningest programs in history, and tubby smith has failed to represent them for several years now. especially with the new NBA age rule, smith's recruiting and performance is at a new low.
