We moved from Ohio to Seattle in November and I got pregnant soon after. I have one cousin here and no friends to speak of. My family and friends are all in Ohio. What is the best way to do my baby shower. I know you are not supposed to travel far in the third trimester, I am considering almost all the way across the country far. So if I plan my shower early is there any way anyone knows of to not have to haul lots of stuff back with me? I want to register at Babiesrus and be able to have larger items shipped to me or held at the local store. I feel bad asking people to deal with shipping but can't think of anything else. Any ideas or suggestions?

Sweetie just put on the invitations if they want to purchase larger items the to save them the trouble and you also on the hauling to do a gift card and offer a few diff. stores for them to chose from good luck

Since your family is still in Ohio, will some of them be visiting after the baby is born (like parents)? If so, they can host a baby shower for you in your absence, where all your family and friends come together with all of their gifts and spend time together wrapping the presents and taking pictures, eating cake, etc. Then when your family comes to Seattle to see you, they bring the gifts with them, and the pictures too! This way no one pays for shipping, and they still get to attend a fun shower.

my family doesn't like having baby showers until after the baby is born, goddess forbid anything happen and the baby doesn't survive for any reason. It would be safer for you to travel after delivery, and suggest to people to either buy from your registeries and have them ship from store to store, or some people like giving money, either cash, cheque or gift card is a lot easier to handle for transport than bulky items, especially if you are flying there and back. If you get gift cards for stores you have registeries at you can go and buy the things you need, then you don't have to worry about multiples of items and you can get the items you need to stock up on as well abviously knowing the sex of the baby by then. There is no point in buying lots of clothes now unless you are buying clearance winter clothes for probably up to 6 months depending on the size of your baby since your are likely due in sept.

I wish you luck.

You will most likely find out the sex around 20 wks (5 months) and I dont see a problem with travelling til around 7 1/2 months. Plus you will get a visit in with the family b4 the baby comes cause you probably wont be able to for awhile afterwards

my family did an absentee baby shower for me (im a military spouse in japan) after the shower they sent me the gifts along with a video of the shower and a photo album with pictures they took...you are not gonna be able to travel to ohio and back by car late in your pregnancy.....and you can fly up until your 8th month on most domestic airlines...but your not gonna be able to carry your gifts back with you if you do that.

The point of a baby shower is to watch the mom-to-be open the presents, but I guess asking you guests to ship it is cheaper than sking them to fly to Seattle, I flew from TX to PA for my bff''s shower

You could have one when you find out the sex or you could have a baby shower after you give birth.
