Schadenfreude is a German word that is sometimes used in English. It is roughly translated as malicious pleasure or gloating at someone else's misfortunes (usually a rival, enemy or someone that you dislike).

yes, and I'm not happy or proud of it. Usually I experience this when someone who has wronged me in some way get's "what's due to them" This usually eases my guilt.

I'd say yes, I'm not proud of it though and I did feel guilty right after, I think everyone experiences this if they turn on the TV to watch news stories about the collapse of ENRON, or negative commentaries about our president,
