I washed my car this morning with carwash liquid and found it covered in millions of little brown dots/stains. The washing didn't remove any of them. Possibly from the trees around the carpad (punga). How on earth do I remove them?

The paintwork is smooth to touch so no fingernail is needed. It is a stain.

There is an easy, cheap, effective but time consuming tool . It is called a fingernail. While you are washing your car use your fingernail to remove the little spots. Or take your car to a good car wash and have them polish your car and tell them you want all the little spots off or you won't pay. Then keep your car waxed I like Black Magic, that way the sap will be easier to remove next time since it will be stuck to the wax instead of the paint.

Wash the car again and use a mirco cloth to dry it off, then polish it with Mer wax if you can find it, or auto gylmm, both are excellent at removing sap.

Auto shops sell a product that removes tar and road grim that works very well. also; next time you go to wax your vehicle you may want to use rubbing compound the the worst spots first. Diesel fuel works very well, just got to wash it with a product that will cut grease when your done. like dish soap or tide.

It usually is the sap from trees.....I've had it happen before. Try using hot/warm water with the car wash soap.
