i am reading the book and i was wondering if the movie was any good. what do you think?

Wow! I must have read that book a million times! The book is sooooo much better than the movie. But, I have to admit, you have the faces of the boys in your mind in the book, and they actually look like the boys in the movie ---- great casting as far as I'm concerned!

I've NEVER read a book that wasn't better than the movie and I've NEVER seen a movie that was better than the book. The Outsiders was a good movie, most people I know love it, but it doesn't compare to the book.
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy comes closest (and maybe The Color Purple). But still, neither of those was better than the book. If you have a really good imagination, the book will always be better. The movies are the interpretations of someone else's imagination. You may imagine an Orc (LOTR) to look one way, and Peter Jackson (LOTR director) sees them differently.
That's why, if possible never see a movie before reading the book. Because if you read the book, then watch the movie, you can say 'not bad' or 'that was terrible', or 'They didn't interpret it like I would have.' Whereas, if you see a movie before reading the book, it may hinder your imagination. Instead of imagining what an Orc looks like, you may just envision Peter Jackson's version.

The book is always better than the movie in any case, but the movie is still worth watching. What a great story, are you loving it?!?!

THe movie does justice to the book, but anyday i prefer the book.

The Outsiders is awesome....You must see the movie. Tom Cruise, Rob Lowe, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Maccio, and Emelio Estevez....W00t!! >.<

The movie sucks,the book is much better.The movie doesn't have as much as the book does.

the film adaption was excellent, just make sure you get the directors cut with extended scenes. almost every actor in it went on to superstardom.
