A rainbow is a circle. The lower the sun, the more of the circle you see. Also you can't approach it because it would keep appearing to move away, as you move, you're seeing the prism through different drops of water.

As seen from above (at 75,000 ft. in an F-15) there isn't one. The rainbow appears to form a complete circle under the aircraft.

since the rainbow is an optical illusion caused by the refraction of light it has no structure so no beginning no end
