true enough stop helping when it hurts and drains you, especially emotionally and financially.
some like to use others because it makes them feel good. so it's a waste of time and life to help
people who don't deserve it. notice if they are lazy and never give back anything. sometimes they tell others
that they know someone who helped them and you end up a victim, therefore despising the good
that you've done.

As selfish as this may sound, you need to start thinking for yourself and about yourself. People will drain you emotionally and even financially if you allow them too. You are much too young to start developing a negative attitude.
Be friendly, but don't be friends so quickly.

You stop helping people when it wears you out. Whether or not they help you should never factor in, but if your reasources, energy or emotional stability have been drained, its time to worry about yourself for a little while.

It sounds like you have answered your own question already... helping people should make you feel good, if it is draining you then it is time to move on.

When you stop helping your own self, then it is time to focus on you and let others help themselves. Sometimes no matter how much you try , some people you just can't help.
I had to stop helping others (for a lil' while) to be able to help myself.

You never stop helping people. You just gotta be careful and know where to draw the line and not allow people to use you.
