The planet is primarily covered with water and the bluer the water is the bluer the sky becomes. It is related to the sunlight passing through the ozone layer striking the water at angels and then refracting the color of the water back into the atmosphere.

The atmosphere bends sunlight into it's widest spectrum, which is blue. As the sun sets, the angle of the light striking the atmosphere changes to the red wavelength. Hardly romantic, but hey, it's late and I'm tired.
