E, D, and G are the most important for rock guitar. the others are F, Am, C, B, A, and Em
when i was learning guitar i found that a lot of the songs i was playing had a combination of these chords

alright!!!
i'm self taught too and that's what i did!!
i play pretty good too, at least that's what my friends and family say.....
the ten most common and easiest chords to learn are definetely: g, c, a, d, e minor, d minor, e, a7, a minor, and e7!!
the hardest chords to play are: b, f, f minor, g minor, b flat, and c minor!!
and a couple tips for when you start practicing:
1. practice every day and it's gonna be hard but don't give up
2. the f chord is not impossible even though it will feel like it at the time
3. when you think you're ready to start playing songs, start with "Time of your life" by green day, and then "Your guardian angel by the red jumpsuit apparatus.
those are the first two songs that i learned!!
