Especially when I go to the mall I see these young men, probably in high school or just about, wearing those jeans where the waist falls on their butt. Plus the pants themselves are always too long and dragging. They walk around constantly pulling up the "waist". Why don't they just wear normal jeans?
For that matter, I notice they usually have a very unkempt or unclean look. I am always amazed to see that they are commonly escorting some very pretty and well dressed young ladies. Why?

My sentiments, exactly! I love this question and I am going to give you a star for it!
I have been trying to figure out the logic for this new found "style". It looks stupid, unattractive, unclassy, and it looks like one could carry their schoolbooks in the baggy area of the pants, instead of using a backpack!
I'm "old school" and I appreciate a clean, well groomed look on a man or a woman. For me, that will never go out of style. Instead it will label one as fashionable, intelligent, and respectable.

There are three possible reasons why this is done....#1. It is considered to be a fashion trend---it started in prison and took off from there. It also makes short men look taller. #2. Hand-me-down clothes or lack of a good belt. and #3. They think that its cool to show their business the world.
In all, clothes don't make the man. So let us not "judge a book by its cover" and keep an open mind about all of the people we meet!!!

It's a fad just like when I was a teen (late 60's early 70's) we patched our bell bottoms. I'm not crazy about it either but it'll pass soon as something new comes around. Which will be soon I hope because it does look awful.

Nowadays it's two categories:
--The young men with baggy jeans
--The young men with jeans too tight
I'd prefer the tight jeans to baggy ones (just so I don't have to see their undergarments... but whatever.)
It's an MTV generation.

It's because of global warming. See, global warming is causing those boys brains to melt, and therefore they don't realize how silly they look.
