Some doctors do an early u/s at 8 weeks others don't do one until you hit 5 months- this is when they try to find out the sex. There is no way to tell the sex of a baby other than an ultrasound or amnio. People may say that you are having a girl, most of this is old wives tales. In about a month you should be able to tell what you are having.

It all depends on how your doctors does things. With my doctor i had an ultrasound at 19 weeks but i didnt have it done at a regular appointment i had to make an appointment just for the ultrasound but the doctor will tell you when to make the appointment for.
The only sure way to know what you are having is to wait until the baby is born. My aunt was told with all three of her ultrasounds (done by different techs) that she was having a girl but then when the baby was born it was a boy. Ultrasounds are very accurate but it also depends on how good and trained the technitian is who does the ultrasound.

They should have already told you when your ultrasound would be, so that's a little odd. I would call and make sure one is scheduled very soon. Most doctors do one at 18-20 wks, which is the best time to see the baby's sex. The only other way to tell is by amniocentesis, but that has risks involved, and they usually only do that procedure when there is a problem. And people thought I was having a boy last time because of the way I was carrying, and it was a girl. So don't listen to old wives tales! Good luck :)

They usually do an ultrasound between 16-20 weeks. When the do it, they look for a number of things: size of the baby, a four-chambered beating heart, spinal development, that kind of thing. If you want to know the sex, and your baby is positioned correctly they will be able to tell you. There are lots of old wives tales on predicting the sex of the unborn child, but other than amniocentesis and maybe ultrasound, you just have to wait until they are born.

You usually have an ultrasound at 18 - 20 weeks gestation and it is this one they will determine the sex if you want them to. They usually have to be pre- booked though, he will not just do it at your appointment. At your next doctors appointment ask him about it, or ring the doctors office and enquire. They will either make an appointment for you, or give you the number to make it yourself.
Regarding the sex, the ultrasound is really your only way of finding out that is accurate. Apart from at the delivery!
Good luck with the remainder of your pregnancy!

There are alot of different myths about how you carry the baby a certain way, it will be a certain sex, but you can't rely souly on that, the ultrasounds are almost 100% correct! They usually do the first ultrasounds around 20 weeks, so it probably won't be too much longer before they done one for you! Good luck and best wishes!!

ultrasound is the only sure way, i would talk to your doc, i have five children and most doctors schedule an ultrasound for 15 weeks, tell the doc you want the order for your ultrasound and that your relatives and friends all had theres at 15 weeks , it's making you feel uneasy that you have not had yours yet, and for your knowledge you should have another around 24 weeks

They usualy do the ultrasound around 18-20 weeks, so you will probably get one at your next appointment. The only other way to tell the sex of the baby without u/s is amnio. It is kinda risky to just find out the sex of the baby. We wanted to know the sex of our baby but our hospital doesnt tell you. It sucks, so we have to try and get into a specialist to find out. Not entirly bad, we get to see the baby again :) Congrats
