The major chords are A,B,C,D,E,F & G. Then you have minor chords in Am,Bm,Cm,Dm,Em,Fm,Gm. 7th chords will also be in A7,B7 till G7. You can expand from those major chords as you progress to the major 7th, minor 7th, augment, dim., or sus.
For starters, try learning how to place your finger 1 (index finger) across the fretboard to strum a chord. If you move the whole set of your fingering position up or down one fret, you'll get that chord's sharp (#) or flat (b) respectively. Remember though that the sharp of a B will be C, and that of E will be F. Once you have those basics ingrained in your mind, your guitar playing will become much easier, and you'll appreciate those chord changes immensely.
There are many guitar playing books in the market, I'm sure you may have one or two of those already. You can also visit many websites to learn how to play the guitar absolutely free. Chords, lyrics, and tablatures are freely available if you would like to progress to play the bass or lead guitar. Just type guitar playing, or guitar techniques, or guitar tabs, or tablatures to your search engine and click "go" You'll find lots of stuff to learn and of course, you'll become a very happy person.
Enjoy the fun, explore the infinite musical pleasures your guitar can generate for you and those around you. Happy picking!
