It's just a common guideline that gives you plenty of time to heal. After my first (epidural, episiotomy, 3rd degree tear), I waited three months and I still had pain. After the second (natural, midwife-attended, small tear), I waited five weeks and had no pain at all. Both times I had a little bleeding the next morning, but nothing big. Theoretically, if you're breastfeeding at least every three hours and giving baby NO formula, you are not fertile. I wouldn't trust it.

Dont you think it would hurt? I would, after pushing out a watermellon. Also your body needs time to heal, everything needs to go back to normal, and yes you can be very fertile. Alot of women that have sex within the 6 weeks mark get pregnant again.

They recommend waiting 6 weeks. To let your body recover some. I waited 4 weeks, but I also had a c-section. Yes you are still fertile, because my children are 10 months apart

It does hurt and maybe mom needs a break,. She is still healing too. Yes we are fertile at that time and can still get pregnant. Our main goal at this point is to take care of our babies and not have sex. We need to adjust to our new schedules

Im no dr. for sure, but my guess is that like all times when the body goes thru a lotta stress and non-everyday-physical stress, it needs time to heal and get back to the way it once was. The female genitalia is especially one of them. No man has to give birth through his penis, and the biggest thing closest to men giving birth is making a huge poo OR passing a kidney stone. Give your body a rest...much like after you get your wisdom teeth pulled, the sockets need time to heal (about a few weeks to a full month)...Don't be in a rush for fragile things to heal-time is a friend, not a foe.

It does not matter how many times you breastfeed in a day, if you have unprotected sex at any time there is the chance of getting pregnant.
I talked to my doctor and after we discussed it I waited about 4 weeks before having sex after I had my son.
You might try talking to your doctor, they might be able to give you a better answer than anyone else.

I had a baby 3 weeks ago and i still have more healing to do - i think it would still hurt and there is bleeding for a few weeks after you give birth as well. I think there is a higher risk of infection.

Because your body needs to heal plus yea you can get pregnant again that soon.
I know people that have gone for their 6 week check up and be pregnant again.
Sex was the last thing on my mind after i had my son by c-section. I didn't have sex until 2 months after i had him.
