i just want to know that why these two names are given to batsman,i.e. "good" & "great".what is the difference between these two types of batsmen.

Good batsman are like kevin peteirsen, ricky ponting, hussey, symonds, dhoni, dravid, fleming, inzy, steve waugh, chanderpaul, sangakarra, flintoff. They play the normal game, and give victory to the team in many ways, in an opener's slot or as a finisher, or as a pinch-hitter.
Great batsman are the experienced ones who attack the team when required, are aggressive and times, have excellent defences, hit shots in all directions, execute each known shot, read the bowler's mind, find beautiful gaps, create the best timings. For eg: Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Jayasuriya, Gilchrist, Yousuf and a few others.

A good batsman is the one who plays very well and according to the situation...he is steady and consistent.
on the whole, he is an average batsman, he cannot be removed from the team at all
But great batsmen are simply marvellous. They can bat at ANY place and in situation and contribute well to the team. He is a great asset to the team and can never be removed.
He has a outstanding average, and very consistent performance.
In addition a great batsman is the one who accepts all decisions, be it right or wrong and walks away. he doesnt make too much fuss, and drama.he is simple....and he makes his bat talk.
