Actually Human Beings are animals. But, Animals are not human beings obviously. Humans are Homosapiens, and could be a considered an evolved form of animals.
Just as a square is a rectangle, but a rectangle is not always a square.

Ok, it seems that you would like intelligent answers only... but ok. Yes, human beings are animals. Although we can reason, are capable of emotion and large scale organization, we also have bodies that function in ways we do not control and perish. The "techincal" term is "homosapien."

Actually, the more scientifically accurate term for the "species" of humans would be homosapien sapiens, according to a book i read on evolution.
ps. that's not a typo, there should be 2 "sapiens"
