I'd say Chinese or Japanese.

it also depends on what your native language is.

I would guess it would be English.

Fact: Comparing a native English speaker learning to read and write English, to a native Spanish speaker learning to read and write Spanish: by age ten, the English speaker is (on average) two to three years behind the Spanish speaker.

The reason: English vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar is a combination of several related and unrelated languages. Much of our grammar and sentence structure comes from early German, vocabulary and pronunciation are heavily influenced by Latin and French. Top that with 500-1200 years of regional dialects and you have the modern English language ..

There was once a proposal to change English spelling to reflect its true pronunciation.. and ended up with a alphabet with over 50 letters, now thats complex!

I think a language is hard only when the brain and mind is not ready to concentrate upon its rules and formats. It all depends on the individual and the language infront of him/her. So to an extent, it would be wrong to definitely state that this or that language seem to be the hardest worldwide...oh no!

I'd say the first language u learn is the easiest and the last one u learn is the hardest.
I mean it depends on the grasping power of the brain and the older u are the lesser u grasp....

I want to say Chinese because I think (not sure) but the writing has nothing to do with what is said. Like it's writing just is and it has no sound affiliated with a letter.

Thai. It is tonal, so one word can have several meanings depending on what emphasis you give it. I don't think Japanese or Chinese are as hard to learn to speak, just to read and write fluently.

English. It has so many rules to it and things aren't always the same. Seriously, that is what my english teacher told me. It would be harder for someone who speaks spanish to learn english then it would be for you to learn spanish.
