Once again I will try to explain to people who are using IUD's what they do to your body.
1) The egg is fertilized in the fallopian tube it travels down the tube and attaches to the lining of the uterus.
2) When you have an IUD put in you can be aborting every month due to the fact that the IUD irritates the lining of the uterus and does not allow the embryo to attach.
3) You must check placement of your IUD frequently. Babies have been born with IUD's copper 7's in there hands
4) Rupture of the uterus can occur with an IUD
5) Although not scientifically proven as of this posting, IUD's are being considered as a major cause in the formation of fibroid.
I
The facts remain, do you want to take the chance of monthly abortions? Possible rupture of the uterus? Or infertility?
Ask your Physican for ALL the possiblities when considering an IUD. Remember it is a foriegn object being placed into YOUR body. You are the one taking the risk.

I have had an IUD in place for almost 9 years now, and I couldn't be happier with it. The type I have can be in place for 10 years. They have some that are for shorter time periods.
My cycles are heavier, but it is a great trade off for what the pill and depo did to me.
I know some that have had trouble with it, but I think it's wonderful.

All birth controls will have some form a side effects and risks. Some are easier to tolerate for particular people. Read the website to learn more information (mirena.com) but don't be scared away by just a few experiences. I personally have a had the Mirena for just a year. I have a few complaints but not enough to switch to any other form of birth control.

be very carefull in this descision. I too thought an iud would be a good option but wasnt the case at all.I had the marina and was biggest mistake of my life. If you smoke your symptoms can be worse. The iud caused cysts on my ovaries, landed me in the hospital in severe pain, also periods were dramatically heavier and so were my moods. Years ago iud's had a bad reputation and killed wemon, i wish that i had done the research before i ever had one.

I also thought about the IUD after having my daughter, but my doctor talked me out of it. He explained that your can get infections far easier because of the IUD, so I decided against it. Talk with your doctor about another form of birth control and see what he/she thinks. Then make your decision from there as they will be able to give you both the negative as well as the positives.
Good luck.

I would say no. For my reason is I had one put after my son was born 9 yrs. ago. And now he is my only child( hopefully for now) but I have had two miscarriages since. When I had the IUD in my periods were very heavy, I couldn't even sleep well without staining my bed. I think it's something that you really have to think about before you make that choice. I my self would not recommend it. Use condoms.

There is a new intrauterine device out now called Mirena. It's plastic, and you can leave it in for up to 5 years. If you decide to have more children, you can have it removed and immediately start trying to have more children. My doctor actually wanted me to get on this, just because I hate taking pills and being on Depo for more than 2 yrs causes loss in bone density. I think this would be a great thing for you, because it's something you won't have to think about.

I used it after my first and had no problem with it. In fact it was great not having to remember the pill. I went on to have 2 more babies.

Yes, it's a good idea but always remember to have it checked every six months.
