I did it that way. Bad idea. It never healed correctly, it got infected, and now I have a gross keloid that will never heal.

A sewing needle isn't nearly big enough to get the right size piercing jewelry (lip ring) into it. I would recommend saving your money and buying a piercing needle, or even better, just save $40 and get it pierced professionally.

If you really want to pierce it yourself, here is a website where you can buy cheap piercing needles http://newyorktattoo.com/body_piercing_needles_5_ctg.htm I'm not sure how much you know about piercing, but most lip rings are 14g, and in order to get the hole big enough to get a 14g ring into it, you need to pierce with a 12g needle.

The way to pierce it would be to put the 12g hollow piercing needle through your lip, and push the needle almost all the way through until the back of the needle is near your lip. Then take the 14g ring, and rest it inside the back of the needle. Then, in one fluid motion, you push the needle and the ring completely through your lip, then simply put the bead into the ring.

I believe regular earrings are either 20g or 18g. The next size larger is a 16g, and a lot of regular piercings are a 14g. I hope all this info helped, and it really is best to get it done professionally, but either way, good luck with your lip!

Sure, a nail or a screw would also work...but not recommended. If you can't afford it, maybe it is not the best thing to do right now. If this is something that you just must do, please wait and pay extra to have it done in a professional, reputable, sterile shop. Please don't do it yourself. You would be putting yourself at risk for infection and/or injury, including nerve damage.

Whatever you do, do NOT do what Kristy K said. If you freeze the needle it will stick to your skin in a really bad way. Have you ever seen that movie where the kid sticks his tongue on a frozen pole? It's not a pretty sight!

you can, but it would hurt like hell. and you might get infected, and I bet you have seen people with infected lips. They look like they are hiding the good year blimp. You can, and you could do it with a 4 inch spike too. But l wouldn't. If you haven't got the bucks for a pro, don't.

you can not do it with a regular sewing needle for one they are not meant to pierce skin, only fabric..2. the hole would not be nearly big enough to insert something to keep it open.

Uhm well you'd have to have something
thicker than that so that the hole was big
enough but if you kept it clean it would work
i've temporarily tried it before..
it's not that hard.
I recommend freezing it by holding ice on
it for awhile first..
just a suggestion??

if you can stand pain, sterilize and push it thru, make sure u don't hit a vein i strongly advise to have it done professionally, infection etc.
