My husband bumped his lower leg(shin) at work a couple of weeks ago. I t is still very sensitive to the touch and its still bruised and he has a medium size bump there. Do you think it could be a blood clot? Should he seek a doctor? He is just so stubborn when it comes to seeing a doctor.

I'm not a medical person, but I do have a degree in MH; Motherhood. Anytime you bump yourself and the swelling does not go down after a few days sounds serious enough to seek medical advice. It's worth a doctor visit rather than a blood clot which could be fatal.

First off, how does your husband feel? Is the leg hurting a lot? Is there a temperature difference between the legs? EG the injurewd leg is it colder to touch than the unijured leg? Can you feel a pulse on the top of the injured leg's foot? If you gentley pinch the great toe of the injured foot note the pink under the toenail turns white, when you release the toe does the pink return rapidly or is it slow? (Cap Refill)
If the leg is very painful even when sitting, the injured leg seems cooler to the touch, the pulse is absent in the injured leg's foot or the cap refill is slow, then he should seek medical attention as these are some indications of a possible blood clot in the leg. If everything is normal then he may want to have the family doctor just check it to make sure there is not some other injury.
