On Sunday March 11, TNA Impact will have "Destination X" PPV, but I have read internet rumors that before the show or shortly afterwards, NWA will remove their affiliation with TNA due to the fact TNA owner Jeff Jarrett has not paid franchising fees to NWA. If true, Christian Cage or Samoa Joe will be stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship that night as well as LAX or Team 3-D being stripped of the tag team title, forcing TNA to go out on their own like ECW did when they broke away from NWA years before. The "X Division" Title was TNA' s own to begin with & is not affected. Are the rumors true?

One of the reasons TNA started with the affiliation with the NWA was to give itself instant credibility. Now that TNA has a national TV outlet, they may feel that they no longer need the credibility that an association with the NWA affords. You mentioned ECW's split from the NWA, but what about WCW's split from the NWA in the 90's. It just goes to show that you can drop your affiliation with the NWA, but then again, where are ECW and WCW now? Oh yeah, Vince owns them. Maybe TNA needs to think just a bit more.

That's what I've been reading. TNA has come far enough now that they can stand on their own 2 feet. Even if NWA were to take their belts TNA probably has its own set of belts ready to go.

From what I read on pwtorch.com, they are reporting it as being true. It would make sense, since very few people really care in you call the belts the NWA Heavyweight championship, or the TNA Heavyweight championship.
