Yes if we had socialized medicine we would be in a lot better place than letting the insurance company's run us they have entirely to much power And as far as our schooling goes think that education should be free for the first 12 years then depending on grades would be the price of tuition we are lacking in both any how look at Kansas there schools are not even accredited and I think we are like 10 in health care for the world for being who we are that is pretty bad

No thank you. The health care pales by US standards, especially if a real specialist is needed. Perhaps you've heard of public schools? That is a free education system.

Would you be willing to pay about 20 to 25% Government sales tax (GST). That's how Canada funds it's national health care system. Countries like Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom have these systems, and also don't allow for lawsuits for malpractice. The biggest reason health care is so expensive is the malpractice insurance that hospitals and doctors have to have to protect themselves from lawsuits.

Just as a note, in Canada, we've been having trouble in ensuring quality in our health care system. There has been stories of at least two people dieing in hospital ER hallways in British Columbia in the last 5 years or so. There are also issues with excessive waiting times for operations and transplants. That said, to say that our health care system is in shambles, or anything to that effect (such as the statement below me :-P ), is an overstatement.

Information on the Canadian health care system:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/healthcare/
As you can tell on the menu on right-hand side of your screen, health care is constantly discussed and studied in Canada!

EDIT: GIOSTORMUSN is WRONG. Canada allows for malpractice suits, but is more strict. That's why we don't have a wave of lawsuits in Canada. Look at this listing for a Quebec lawyer, specifically under "practice areas." You will clearly see that he deals in medical malpractice defense.
http://www.martindale.com/Medical-Malpractice/Quebec/all/9808-OGO/Adam-M.-Barza-lawyersDetails.html?pq=%7CCE03356EA6D70D46%7C%7C1%7C2%7C38%7C%7C

It is also clear he never was in Canada. We have a federal sales tax (aka, the Goods and Services Tax [GST]) of 6%, which goes into GENERAL REVENUE. Some provinces, with exception of Alberta, choose to have a provincial sales tax from 6%-8%. The Atlantic provinces have a Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) instead, a combination of the two taxes, making for a 14% tax rate. The federal government is supposed to cut the GST to 5% and the HST to 13% in 2008.

And if you're so concerned about being taxed to death, look at the current federal rates for the 2006 tax year. The provincial income tax table is below the federal table:

Lastly, looking at the PBS NewsHour web feature on healthcare, no mention was given to malpractice insurance in influencing costs. It looks as if other forces are at play.

So we have to wait 15 years for an MRI and have a 3rd grade education? Sure, why not?

We already have a socialist education system, albeit one of slightly higher quality than Mexico's. That U.S. health system is dangerously close to socialist already. I would rather see a move toward a free market than a surge of even more people who believe it is my duty to pay for their healthcare.

The ED of Mexico? Man, that would be sad.

i think of that the u . s . a . and the massive coverage firms have allowed the medical equipment to get out of control. On many prescription drugs, as an occasion, they sell for plenty extra interior the U. S. than they do in the different united states of america. it particularly is particularly in basic terms a remember of grant and insist. maximum super firms outsource many amenities, so why can no longer super coverage firms authorize determining to purchase prescriptions from pharmacies outdoors the U. S.? it particularly is an identical concept. coverage firms dictate to docs each and all the time what they are going to pay for amenities - they could do a similar for prescription drugs. On yet another be conscious, i'm not sure i pick Uncle Sam too in contact in my well-being care. I get excitement from my freedom to pick, and have confidence my potential to make suggested judgements approximately my own and my youngster's healthcare. i could somewhat place money in decrease fee expenses than to could pay greater taxes to cover added amenities, exceedingly whilst the equipment i could be paying for i think is enormously unreliable and inefficient. yet another theory in simple terms occurred to me. lots of people who're on an coverage (like by artwork or something), tend to have extra surgical procedures and different methods than somebody on a lesser plan or paying out of pocket. I also have a buddy with super coverage that has had 2 surgical procedures on her ankles. If the coverage hadn't been so stable the customary practitioner could have advised her to lose one hundred kilos and initiate work out to the main suitable option the situation. somewhat, he made quite some funds doing ineffective surgical procedures, and she or he continues to be no longer in plenty extra perfect shape than she replaced into till now. It in simple terms is going to teach that all of us could take extra duty for our very own well-being, and not shop on with alongside like sheep to a slaughter. i don't be attentive to what the respond is, yet i be attentive to that till we restore what's faulty with the present equipment, making it loose for all does no longer make it extra perfect or extra low priced - and could probable in simple terms upload to the confusion.
