That's really good. It means your family does not make enough money to support you going to school. You qualify for more financial aid. Pretty much all your school should be paid in grants and loans because you're not able to receive money from your parents.

Your estimated family contribution is how much the government expects you or your family to pay based on your income.
So, the lower your EFC, the more aid you get.
Since yours is zero, you will probably qualify for grants (free money)

It means that based upon the information you have provided they assume the family can not contribute anything but zero to your financial aid.

yes because they think that based on your finances your family cant provide money for college so they are going to give you more so you can go
