Wash in warm water to open up the pores, then rinse in cool water to close them again. This helps keep some impurities out of your pores. When I say "open" and "close" what I mean is that when you use warm water, the pores expand a little and when you use cold they restrict a little. I was told this by a dermatologist, so I have to assume it is correct. Also, unknown to many people, you have to use moisturizer, even if you have oily skin. What happens is that after you wash your face, if you don't put good moisture into your skin, there is a reaction whereby your skin demands moisture and your body sends oil to the surface where it collects and causes blemishes. If you use a good moisturizer, this doesn't happen because your skin doesn't feel dry and the nerves don't sent the message for more oil.

always wash your face with warm water to get all the pores open and get all the dirt out. Then when finished washing face splash cold water on it to close the pores back up

There's no need to wash and scrub your face unless you work, say, in a coal mine.

Just rinsing off your face is fine. Don't shock your facial skin if you want it to be flawless for a long time. Treat it gently. Leaving the skin on your face mostly alone is actually the best thing to do. Keep in mind that the face is exposed to the elements all the time - sun, wind, heat, cold, etc.

And, never, EVER use soap. Certainly no antibacterial soap. That's just for hands. It's better to use a product like Cetaphil. This will preserve the natural fats of your skin and not attack your skin like a soap would. It's gentle and there's no water involved. It'll keep your skin plump and glowing.

it is a good thing to warm your face with the warm water, so the pores would open and than wash it with cold so they would close, that's how the pores get cleaned.

Your pores do not actually open and close, however cold water makes the pores look smaller which is what makes your face look clearer.

I've heard of splashing your face with cold water after washing with warm, but not washing with cold. It seems like it wouldn't clean as well, plus, it's COLD! I wouldn't do it.
