I was sickly and had to be left behind when my family vacationed or moved to a new location. I was always afraid that my family would not come back to get me to take me to the new home. That was enough to keep me from being scared of ghosts, goblins, and any other kind of strange creature. For me it was a real fear and the time I spent away from my family was more of a problem than anything else. I would lie in bed and pray that they would remember to come for me.

shadows outside at night. I thought they were endless holes that you would just fall into if you stepped into one.
Also the octopus under my bed. I had to flip the lights out and do the running leap to the bed and every appendage had to stay covered or it would get me.
The stupid glass dolls my mom would buy every holiday for me. Everynight I had to turn them around so they were not facing me bed.
being buried alive. I sometimes woke up hyperventilating because my room was too dark and I thought I was in a casket. I am kinda having trouble breathing just thinking about it!!!
video cameras...this one I have no explaination for.

I've had this conversation with one of my sisters. Grandma's upstairs, the basement and attic of the house we used to live in, some peoples' houses around town, some people around town, our community building basement. Man, we were scared of a lot of stupid things.

Dying. When I was little I would lay awake for hours at night so scared that I was going to die and I wouldn't get to grow up. It was awful.
