im bisexual, and i have strong feelings towards one of my good friends. but now, i thought those feelings were reciprocated but now im not so sure. we have had a couple of close-intimate encounters, which are fueled by alcohol. but when he is sober there seems to be a distance. my question is, is that are there feelings there or is it just the alcohol.

alcohol can lower your inhibitions, i have been in the exact situation and i told my friend and he said he didn't want to ruin the friendship, i know that sounds like a cop out but i have had relationships and sex with friends that ruin the friendship forever, but if you aren't afraid of losing him as a friend then tell him how you feel and see where it goes.

I was in the complete same situation. I got chills reading the question because it reminds me so much of the mess I got myself into. The best thing is to not let it progress any farther. I fell in love with a straight guy, and it took me a year to get over him. I convinced myself that the alcohol fueled "flirtiness" was real, and not something I was hyping up in my head.
My friend and I talked about it and got all the feelings out into the open, and, although the feelings weren't mutual (since he was straight), he was flattered more than anything. It did take him aback a bit, because he didn't even realize he was doing things that made me think it was flirtatious. We worked it all out, and we're not close anymore really, but it worked out better in the end because I couldn't keep hurting myself that way......
It totally sucks, but you have to realize what's really best for you, chasing after a straight guy, or moving onto someone who is actually interested in you....
Best of luck, and if you wanna talk, just message me or something....

I think the alcohol lowers the inhibitions...but it sounds like your friend has some pretty high walls around him.

You answered your own question. You said some things have occurred when you were drinking but when you're sober, he's distant. Don't go for him because he probably isn't interested.

Friends with benefits are always nice. even if it is alcohol involved. Wait until you get drunk together again and talk about your relationship...

It could also be that he doesn't want any public displays of affection. Ya never know.
