Five players on each team trying to put the ball in the basket is the main object.
I would suggest reading either "Basketball For Dummies"
or "The Complete Idiots Guide to Basketball"
Not calling you an idiot or dummy, I have Basketball for Dummies as it has good strategies and tips on how to get kids to play better in it.
