Can someone define the power of the "it"...when it comes to things happening in realtionships, marriage and what is this power that we have no control of - to decide for ourselves if something is to or is not to happen??

is there numerous possible choices and depending on the choices - go this way and not that way, stay with someone or leave - then there are results according to the coices we make consciously or unconsciously - because we may be trying to learn something - so when people get back together it may be they are still attached but they couldn't learn anything at the time with their partner...so it collapsed...and then later they learn....finally realizing what one truly wanted....it was the first person in the first place...maybe like leaving school...then always talking about that school...maybe the "it" is really you...but no one really realizes that....the power of the choices we can make that can make a difference in our lives...

Its just that some believe in destiny and a ‘plan’. Personally, I believe that sometimes we have to help it a bit. And if you don’t, you blow a chance at a destiny… and end up on a path where your not happy, dont feel fullfilled.

I also believe that risk plays a factor, the bigger the risk, the bigger the reward. So, it just depends upon what your faced with.

All I know is life is short, and I simply detest regret.

Very philosopohical. Your qestion could read "does free will exist?" I wrote a paper on it and decided it does, but then again, I guess that depends on your religious beliefs. I also wrote a paper in the same class that asked if god existed, my paper said he didn't....I got an A+. Anyways, fate and free will? Interesting, but do we really know? If you believe in fate then you have no control over what happens. I'm not sure my husband would accept "it was fate that I slept with that guy....and that guy....and that guy! I had no control over it". However, if I said "i just did it cause it was fun" I don't think he'd like that either....hmm....I think he'd believe the fun explanation, though. I think the old "meant to be" thing is just an excuse to get away with things you know shouldn't have happened, or to make us believe we married the right person, we were just "meant to be". Funny, though, if you think "what if I hadn't been hit by that car, I never would've met my hot surgeon husband" you may be inclined to think it was fate and not circumstance. Too bad I was never hit by that car....

People who believe in destiny say this kind of garbage. I suppose it also helps when disappointments occur to blame it on something as abstract as fate instead of thinking realistically or blaming the self.

Personally, I don't adhere to this kind of belief system. I believe that I do have some control over my relationships as do all other people. Destiny takes the personal responsibility out of the equation.

You will get it if it's meant for you.
