The only suicidal thing smoking brings out in people is the desire to smoke another cigarette.
Nicotine is a stimulant, it increases blood pressure, speeds up the heart, gives you a rush.
Alcohol on the other hand is a depressant, and frequently leads to depression and sometimes suicidal thoughts depending on how much you drink and why.
If anyone is having ANY suicidal thoughts more than say once a year for longer than about 2 seconds, they should get help. The phone book has plenty of crisis lines, please take advantage of them immediately, even if for a friends sake, and not your own. What you might learn may save a depressed friends life. Call.

No, smoking doesn't make you suicidal though in SOME cases, what makes them suicidal may also make them smoke. In fact, most of the smokers are NOT suicidal, and there's no evidence that suggests a causal relationship between the two.

Smoking can cause depression, and it might be the depression that's causing you to cut.
So quit smoking and call 1-800-DONT-CUT It's a hotline for cutters.

No it doesnt have the ability to make you sad. Smoking increases your heart rate and blood pressure. And solving the craving you have for it is probably more of a "high" feeling. There are other things causing it and smoking would not be one of them unless you are extremely disgusted with yourself for having the habit?

Smoking has nicotine, which makes people want to smoke more. Emo people may smoke because they want to hurt themselves, so that may be the case. You may just be seeing lots of emo people smoking and cutting themselves.

For all we know about smoking and the diseases that accompany it we know smoking is a manifestation of mental disorder. Persons who smoke are rebellious, sociopathic, and siucidal.. You may as well cut yourself and get it over with fast-- save yourself the years of misery, coughing your lungs up, stinking like a wet ashtray, having leathery, ugly skin, and suffering an ugly addicts death.... slowly.

cigarettes wouldn't do that, but neither would grass, unless that is alrady there before. Cutting is a way to relieve mental pressure and anguish.
Something really bad has happened to you and you're trying to blot it out, but that's impossible. So, to stop the constant pain build-up, you cut. Bring the pain out, where it can be shown. Blaming cigs won't solve the problem.
You're in denial fest.

Only if you are predisposed to do such things anyway, without smoking. I smoked for more than forty years and I never had such thoughts and I don't believe that any of my smoking friends did either.
