I bought from Tiger Direct 2-3 years ago a Systemax AMD 64 bit computer that has 1 gig of memeory. I think it is upgradeable to 3 (not the 2 or 4 your would think) but I can confirm cause I cant figure out what motherboard I have. I am not good enought to take hardware apart. I need a different answer. Help!

There are a few utilities that will tell you what motherboard you have. But it would be easier for you to just take the side panel off the computer and look for any large numbers or letters printed on the motherboard.

Usually under the first slot that is right below the processor.

the 3Gb you mentioned would be the maximum, you could then upgrade to 2GB (from where you are now) if you wanted and I would say any more than 2GB would be an overkill for a 2-3 year old board (2GB may even be an overkill but possibly not). If you don't want to take the side off, how were you planing to upgrade the ram anyway? I think there is a very good chance that your memory (RAM) is upgradeable as you suspect but you also should check how many ram slots are filled, once again the easiest way is too look inside (if you know what ram looks like) but various software utilities can also tell you. you could try http://www.freshdevices.com/motherboards_test.html as software to give some of this info.

There are two ways to find the answer to your question.

1: Download the FREE Belarc Advisor program and run it, it will give you very detailed information about your computer.

2: Go to SysteMax's Website and Click on SUPPORT
