My place of business is up for sale, of course the employees were told nothing. I was told of the internet listing, so I made a copy and gave it to my manager. He then went right to the big boss and now I am the bad guy! My boss reemeed me! What do I do?

I guess what bothers me most is that I have put up with many lies, and guess I question the honesty or lack of behind it. So what if it is for sale, just be honest.

And I did go right to the boss, not others first.

If the business is up for sale, most likely your boss won't be your boss for too much longer. He probably got in trouble from his boss for not informing his employees and just took it out on you. Ignore it, he is probably scared of losing his job too.

Employees are not usually in the loop to the degree they might like. Altho the business is for sale, that doesn't mean it will be sold, or even if sold the new owner may make you a nice offer to stay.

Bottom line is the boss is only going to share what they feel like sharing about this, or anything else. That's a benefit of being the owner/boss.....not that it's right.

You should have asked him about it before telling others, now he may have to contend with business slowing, people leaving, and such. If you really like your position I would be humble and just say "I probably should have talked to you first, but it took me by surprise."

Since your popularity with management is less than zero, it is probably time to take a hike.
