Simon Cowell did not create American Idol. A guy named Simon Fuller created the show.
Simon Cowell is a producer and manager. Simon Cowell also created American Inventor and was the executive producer for America's Got Talent.

He was involved in directing/producing ion Broadway or London for many years-- He was an intregal part of putting together Miss Saigon when it opened on the west end years ago--You should look up his bio sometime.
He is very experienced and knows what he's talking about.

randy was also a bass player for the band journey. but i think simon is a producer and an a&r executive which helps make the artists commercial.
