I go standing up, so it's not an issue in my home. Nor is my lack of cleaning skills.
Edited to add:
Of course I stand up - have you seen how filthy my toilet is?

This is such belligerent sexist crap and it's time it came to an end.
Men leave the seat up, as to not have an 'accident' on it.
Women want the seat left down, because they insist on waiting until they absolutely cannot hold a p any longer and are oblivious to the position of the seat by the time they run cross legged across the house.
In truth, the toilet should be left fully closed, so kids don't play in it, critters don't drink in it and foreign objects don't fall in it.
This way, both sexes must put the seat in to the needed position and return it when finished.
Get a grip people. It has a LID for a reason. Stop playing the sex card on this one. The answer is all too obvious.
Cheers :-)

The women I know want the seat down. Having had the unpleasant experience of sitting on the rim once when in a hurry was not pleasant.
But I do leave my seat up at home. I simply remember to look.

Know what I object to more? Leaving the toilet seat down before they go about their business! Why can't men aim properly?

agreeing with captain here!!! there is a lid for a reason!!!
The lid should be put down EVERY time you flush it to prevent bacteria from the loo and what ever has just been deposited in it from being released into the air!
think about it do you really want a build up of wee and poo bacteria on your tooth brush???

I am fully capable of adjusting the toilet seat to any position that I want it. I assume that a woman could do the same. She better be prepared.

Did you just get scolded for leaving the seat up?? Is that why you are in a belligerent mood??

I just prefer consideration for others. Don't mind if the seat's up really - better that than down with pee all over it. Mmmmm, sitting in someone else's pee - lovely.
